#29 - Wealth in Poverty: How the Least Become the Greatest
Saturday Aug 31, 2024
Saturday Aug 31, 2024
Good morning, everyone. Welcome back to another episode of Morning Coffee and Bible, where we sip our favorite brew and dive into the Word of God. Today, we're kicking off this special Labor Day weekend with a powerful message that's sure to get you fired up and ready for the week ahead.
As we gather with friends and family to celebrate the hard work and dedication that keeps this country running, we also turn our attention to the timeless truths found in Scripture. Today, we're diving into Paul's words to the Corinthians, where he flips the script on wealth and poverty. We're going to explore what it means when Paul says that the poor make everyone rich. It's a concept that's as revolutionary today as it was 2,000 years ago.
But that's not all. With the NFL season just around the corner, we're going to talk about what it means to be on the offense in our faith. Just like a team preparing for the big game, we need to be proactive, strategic, and ready to take ground for the kingdom. And I'm thrilled to have a special guest with me today, my amazing wife, Jessi. Whether she's on screen or just lending her voice, you won't want to miss the insights she'll be sharing.
So grab your coffee, settle in, and let's get ready to roll. It's time to be offensive in the best way possible and make sure we're not just playing defense in our faith journey.
During this episode, we'll discuss the significance of Labor Day, the joy and challenges of work, and how it can sometimes feel like a grind. We'll also touch on the importance of feeling productive and useful in our lives, and how that aligns with God's design for us.
As we delve into 2 Corinthians, we'll uncover the profound truth that even in poverty, we can enrich others by sharing the love and message of Christ. Paul's example teaches us that our value isn't measured by our material wealth but by the eternal impact we have on others.
We also explore the metaphor of being on the offense in our faith, drawing parallels with the upcoming NFL season. Just as a winning team needs a strong offensive strategy, we too must be proactive and bold in living out our faith and sharing it with others.
Finally, we'll reflect on how the darkness in the world can make the light of Christ shine even brighter through us. As believers, we're called to be the light that pierces through the darkness, bringing hope and truth to those around us.
Thank you for joining us on this journey. Let's make this Labor Day weekend a time of reflection, gratitude, and renewed purpose in our faith. And as always, as we gear up for the NFL season, go Chiefs!

Sunday Jul 28, 2024
Welcome to another episode of "Morning Coffee & Bible" with your host, Brandon Fogal. In today's thought-provoking discussion, we dive into an intriguing hypothetical scenario: What if Jesus' resurrection happened today in the age of the internet? Imagine the stone rolling away from the tomb, Jesus stepping out, and the entire event being live-streamed to millions of people worldwide. Brandon explores why Jesus came 2,000 years ago instead of today, considering the fast-paced nature of our society and the power of modern technology. Despite the lack of contemporary technology, the timing of Jesus' arrival was perfect according to God's divine plan.
Throughout the episode, Brandon addresses common questions and concerns about the exclusivity of the gospel and the challenges of spreading the message in today's digital world. He emphasizes that God's timing is always perfect and that even in our tech-savvy era, the truth of Jesus' resurrection and the gospel would still face skepticism and opposition.
Brandon also encourages listeners to use modern technology and social media to spread the gospel and make a positive impact. #23 - This is Not Our Home: A Journey Beyond the Earthly Realm
Saturday Jul 20, 2024
Saturday Jul 20, 2024
Welcome back to another episode of Morning Coffee and Bible. I'm your host, Brandon. Today, we're diving into a deeply meaningful and thought-provoking topic: This is not our home.
As I speak to you from the road on a family trip to Springfield, Missouri, I invite you to join me in exploring what the Bible says about our earthly home versus our heavenly home. Have you ever felt that longing for something more? A sense that this world is not our final destination? Today, we will look at what the scripture paints as a vivid picture of our eternal home that awaits us, crafted by God himself.
We'll reflect on passages from Hebrews, John, Corinthians, and Philippians, discussing the temporary nature of our earthly lives and the hope we have for our heavenly future.
As we roll along, I can't help but share the moments of our journey, from the amusing antics of my family to the deep reflections on our purpose and existence. My wife, ever the patient one, keeps me grounded as I tend to go off the rails. But today, we stay on track, focusing on a message that everyone needs to hear: This is not our home.
Whether you're a Christian or not, this message resonates. We were not made for this existence. To understand what we were made for, we look back to the paradise of the Garden of Eden, where Adam and Eve walked with God. That was the existence we were created for, an existence in the presence of the Holy, the Divine, the Creator.
In the midst of our road trip, amidst the laughter and the occasional delirium, we delve into the scriptures. Hebrews 11:8-10 reminds us of Abraham's faith and his journey to a promised land, living as a stranger in a foreign country, looking forward to a city with foundations whose architect and builder is God.
We also reflect on John 14:1-3, where Jesus reassures his disciples that he is preparing a place for them, a place where they will be with him forever. This promise extends to all believers, assuring us of a home beyond this temporary world.
As we navigate through our travels and the complexities of life, we remember that our true citizenship is in heaven. Philippians 3:20-21 tells us that our citizenship is in heaven, and we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly bodies to be like his glorious body.
This episode is a reminder that no matter where we are or what we're going through, this is not our home. We are strangers in a foreign land, looking forward to an eternal home with God. So, as you go about your day, remember that you are a citizen of heaven, and your ultimate home is with Christ.
